There is no doubt that The Kudzu Vine is the most hated plant in the south eastern United States. Kudzu was introduced to the United States in 1876 at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, PA. to celebrate the 100th birthday of the U.S. At that time Americans fell in love with the beautiful vine, using it as shade covering in the long hot southern summer months. In the 1920's a Florida nursery operator discovered that livestock could eat and flourish from the plant and began selling as livestock feed. In the nineteen thirties and forties the Soil Conservation Service promoted Kudzu for soil erosion control and farmers were given cash incentives to plant it. The vine that was so adored for its beauty and aroma will soon be hated for its aggressive nature. Will the Kudzu haters soon get a new appreciation for the pushy vine? Research is now showing that one day Kudzu may fuel your car, fertilize gardens, cure alcohol addiction, become a natural food & clothing source, and maybe hold a cures for diseases. Kudzu is plentiful, natural and a renewable source and maybe someday be harvested for its many applications.
Kudzu; (kudzoo) (Pueraria montana var. lobata) is a group of plants in the genus Pueraria in the pea family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae. Kudzu contains a variety of potent anti-oxidant chemical compound called phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are (the chemical compositions of plants)and what gives plants and the fruit they bear their color, taste, shape and aroma. These chemical compounds are not a source of nutrition, what they offer is equally important for the health of our bodies. They offer; anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-histamine activity. One of the most abundant phytochemicals found in the Kudzu leaf and steam is Quercetin. Quercetin is a plant pigment and is found in deeply colored fruits and vegetables. It is considered one of the most powerful antioxidant in the human diet. If free radical damage and inflammation is the effects of aging and the root of most diseases, then is Quercetin its formidable adversary ? Maybe?
One hundred plus years ago when my grandfather made his Kudzu Balm he had no idea why it had such a positive impact on skin. All he knew and all he needed to know is that it did. His Kudzu Balm worked to heal, comfort and protect the hands of hard working farmers, cotton pickers. It was used as a daily skin moisturizer and used to conditioned the hair and scalp, soothed babies bottoms and smoothed chapped hands, lips, knees and elbows. It was further used to heal cuts, scrapes, stings, rashes and insect bites. Yes indeed, at that time in history my grandfather's Kudzu Balm was considered "first aid in a jar" and was appreciated by many.
Here at Kudzumyskin.com we wanted to continue my grandfather's legacy by creating a line of Kudzu infused products that will naturally promote skin, nail and hair health. Another Happy Customer
I wanted to tell you about my daughter Ava who has had eczema since she was 3 months old. We have tried absolutely everything and the only relief she ever experienced was by using a steroid cream. Finally her doctor agreed that the steroid cream must not be used anymore as it is dangerous to use long term. I went to this natural doctor that is a homeopath who told us about the Kudzu cream. She gives it to all of her patients with great results. Within three days her eczema was gone.
This is the first time in 2 1/2 years she has soft, smooth skin. I cannot express how happy I am to be able to give her relief. Thank you for developing such and amazing product. It has changed our lives.
